William Beem Vegas Photography

WBeem or Beem has been a Vegas message board regular for many years. He also runs an Orlando Blog in addition to this Vegas photography site where you can purchase his work very reasonably.

This from William-
"I started photography as a teenager. My interests include Travel, Landscapes & Wildlife. I'm looking forward to adding to my gallery here and would love to have your feedback. I live in Central Florida, but enjoy traveling to different places to try and capture something enjoyable. Please check back occasionally, as I intend to add new images gradually and hope you find something to enjoy."

I take pictures but what wbeem does is on the professional level.

VegasLinks.Blogspot.com (this here blog) was nominated in the 2008 Trippie Awards Best Of Vegas For 2008 in the category Best Vegas Blog. Chuckmonster from VegasTripping brings the annual awards to the masses each year. This Saturday night January 3, 2009 7:11 Pacific Time/10:11 Eastern Time. Log on for the Live webcast and join the fun.

Luxor Insider

I've been following Luxor LV's updates on twitter for a while now. Luxor Insider is a blog written by the girl that handles the interactive marketing for Luxor. You gotta hand it to the big corporate structure at MGM to allow something like this to happen and not try to over regulate the press coming out of the joint. In fact it surprises me that more large corporations or businesses don't embrace blogging, twitter and other means of communication to get thier message out. It's pretty much cheap advertising and much more timely and personal. There's so much to like about social networking as a networking tool, thank goodness the corporate bigwigs don't get in the way and let it fly. Especially in this case where you feel like you get that on the ground feeling of what is really going on behind the scenes as it is happening and not just some glossy web marketing campaign which would be much more impersonal.

Just recently there are a ton of pictures of the pyramid covered in snow. I'm digging it!

Fine Homes Las Vegas

Fine Homes Las Vegas is not what you might think by it's title.

Sure there is Las Vegas Real Estate news provided by Vegas Bill but it also has on the street Vegas pictures, videos and scenes from current Vegas events. Many Vegas websites are done from people that have a real love of Vegas (like this one) but may not be on the scene. Vegas Bill provides stuff from the place we all love so much first hand.

Two of the better (if not best) Vegas website operators Hunter Hillegas and Chuckmonster have unveiled EncoreOpening.

Encore Opening is a website that continually refreshes with a gazillion photos and planned coverage of the sister property to Steve Wynn's signature Wynn Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

There is a countdown timer and tons and tons of current pictures with more to come.

Free Vegas WiFi Spots From LVA

Las Vegas Advisor provides a list of free WiFi spots around Vegas.

From the site-"While plans to turn the whole city into a "hotspot" are still in their infancy, there are plenty of accommodating locations around town where you can grab a coffee, sip a cocktail, catch the game, eat wings, smoke a cigar, or order sushi, while surfing wirelessly and for free on your laptop. Here they are."

Here's the link-

I'm still wishing someone would do a map of the strip with pins on the free WiFi locations.

  3. Do you know the difference between beer and malt liquor?
  4. Do you wear your chain inside or outside your shirt?

Vegas Made Easy

At first glance Vegas Made Easy looks like your typical Vegas site that is trying to get you to click on links that will earn the site referral dollars, but once you click on a few of the links to check out what's really going on here you will find out that this is no re-hashed standard Vegas 5 year old info site.

It is current and has real world informed information from people that seem to really knwo what they are talking about. For example- When you click on the Nightlife page it brings yyou to a host of strip club information, and not just the prices to get in and location. They have shit broken down into categories and they have charts. I was literally expecting to see a pie chart with average boob sizes. They get into detail, and in every category. A lot of work went into this site and that's what I like about it. They didn't take the lazy route and just regurgitate the same info that any Vegas fan knows already. They Dig Deeper.

Las Vegas Sun Interactive

The Las Vegas Sun has a multimedia page utilizing some of the coolest technology I've seen on ANY website.

There is an interactive casino history map in which you click through the different decades and see the new buildings come and go. It's rockin technology. It also has hi-def videos of the history of Las Vegas broken down into decades from the 1900s on. Then there are the implosion videos. There's The Neon Boneyard, and also The Elvis Impersonators. In short its the best collection of Vegas Mutimedia put together on one web page that I've ever seen.

We've been Nominated For Best Vegas Blog!!!!! Place your votes!

Okay, Okay now that I've gotten past my incredible feeling of excitement let me now say that I'm incredibly honored to be included in the category for Best Blog for the 2008 Trippies.

It's great that some of you think I have a great site and provide useful content to satisfy a part of your Vegas jones.

Now I would just like to say for the record I don't deserve to win this category and probably should not gather a scant 5% of the votes for best Vegas Blog.

While I love my blog and think it is among the best in jumping off points for any person researching Vegas, there are other nominees in this category that put in a ton more work on their Vegas Blogs and are many times more knowledgeable about all things Vegas.

My passion for Vegas knowledge runs incredibly deep and I consider myself a student of some of the other nominees and am thankful to even be mentioned in the same list with them.

Thanks go to every or anyone that was responsible for nominating me in the first place- Joey

I'm enjoying my moment! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Las Vegas Logue is a very comprehensive Vegas travel site covering just about every angle of the City we love with countless tips, articles and suggestions. There is definitely something for everyone here.

What's Happening, Vegas?

What's Happening, Vegas? is a blog run by a couple of Vegas denizens- MercurialMike, and GroovesGirlVegas. There's a ton of stuff here and these two maniacs do frequent entertainment and To-Do event listings.

From Mercurial Mike's profile-
"Las aventuras de la vida en Las Vegas. Viva Las Vegas!" "The vicissitudes of life in Las Vegas. Long live Las Vegas!" I live near Las Vegas but I'm definitely not a Vegas "insider." I like living here and any Vegas topic is fair game. I'm not out to impress anybody and am frequently guilty of substituting humor for substance."

Here's the thing-

Listen folks. If you manage or have created a Vegas website that you would like me to blog about please do me a favor and don't send in a comment acting as if you're not affiliated with the website telling me I should add it in. It's pretty transparent.

I'm always on the lookout for new content. So just say that you created the site and if I think it's decent, I'll add it into the mix. Hey I love Vegas and everything to do with it. Chances are unless you just started the website and have hardly any content that it will get posted. Hell anyone that has enough passion for Vegas to build a website with content related to it has to be a pretty good egg in my book so I'd love to continue the conversation from a web building and Vegas perspective anyway.

Vegas Tripping Shown on CNBC

What's pretty cool about the popularity of Vegas is that you have these mom and pop website operators doing things better than big advertisers. The Strip Podcast, FiveHundyByMidnight, RateVegas, VegasTodayandTomorrow and VegasTripping all offer far greater content than any of the big boy hotel/casino operators provide the Vegas consumer or aficionado.

Here is a CNBC report in which VegasTripping is shown at about one minute 40 seconds in. There are times when I wonder if the big operators understand how much these comparatively small budget websites affect their bottom lines. There are plenty of other message board and Vegas communities that also contribute to the way the casual consumer decides how they are going to spend their vacation money in Vegas- VegasRex, LasVegasAdvisor, VegasMessageboard, This Ain'tIowa and many others.

Anyway here is a clip from CNBC highlighting VegasTripping
In the Cheap is Chic titled clip Vegas Tripping is highlighted approximately 1 minute 40 seconds in to the clip

Five Hundy By Midnight Likes Vegas Links.

My little Links Blog got a much appreciated plug on the first and one of the finest Vegas websites that I visit on a daily basis. The Five Hundy By Midnight Podcast Blog is where fans of the show leave comments discussing the latest Vegas podcast and to share their Vegas experiences and knowledge. It's almost like a forum but not quite.

Anyway the plug was very much appreciated as I'm sure Five Hundy's audience is far broader than mine. My blog started out as a project for what I thought I would like to have a handy reference for the insane amount of time I spend dreaming about and researching my next Vegas trip (which is a year round pastime).

It's morphed into something I'm pretty proud of but honestly it's all just a labor of love.

Thanks for visiting.- Joey
